LAKE SHORE DRIVE RESIDENCE

This octagonal Entry Hall forms a strong architectural statement immediately upon entering the home. It relies on neutral colors and architectural form, rather than decoration, to make a statement. It moderates between the outside world and the lavishness of the living salon and adjacent rooms. Photography by Tony Soluri

The room sequence is terminated by the library to the North. The entry hall is to the left of this view with recessed gilt columns the owners acquired in Syria. Panelization of the walls gave a rhythmic modulation to this large space and provided vignettes for the owner's collection of French art and antiques. As throughout the home, everything was gutted and new room configurations were created. Photography by Tony Soluri

Although this main room is very large, its seating groups are intimate. A careful balance of architectural detail and decor are scaled to be luxurious, but not to overwhelm. Nothing is original to the room, except the windows. The carefully scaled Louis IXV fireplace and over-mirror anchor this end of the Salon. Photography by Tony Soluri

Guest room and guest bath. The guest suite is lavish in detail. Panelization of the walls create the backdrop for the owner's furniture and period wall paper. The guest bath is a jewel box of trim with inset antique mirrors. Photography by Tony Soluri

Since the kitchen terminates one of the sequences of rooms, highly articulated mahogany millwork creates more of a library feel than an obvious kitchen. The rooms are arranged 'en filade' so views are always from one room to the next, making subtle color and material transitions from space to space. Tony Soluri

A rich look is played out in lush fabrics in the inviting library which has built in bookcases on either side and an Agra rug from the early 20th Century. Photography by Tony Soluri
